the other night as i was up late working on a paper (ahh procrastination wins again..), i heard the sweet sound of the heater kick on for the first time this year. now, this means several things:
a. winter is inevitably on its way once again. (which this is pretty much as close as you can get to winter in texas). hallelujahhhhh!
b. my room will once again become the warmest one in the house.
c. i get to fall asleep to the humm of the heater at night.
now, the last point could possibly be the most important of the three. i have always loved the hum of a fan or the heater and it never fails to sing me to sleep. as a kid, i would lay next to the air vent in the hallway and listen to the soft hum of the vent. this noise has never failed to cause me to drift off when i hear it. in fact, every time i ride the dart train, i find myself overcome with the desire to close my eyes and catch some quick Zzz’s. i swear that train is designed to make people fall asleep. the soft rumble from the tracks and the rocking of the train makes me fall asleep right away. of course then i violently jerk my head up as i resume consciousness and everyone else on the train laughs at me… (im getting drowsy just thinking about it)…
-but i digress-
all of this to say, it is winter is slowly approaching, which also means its time to start jamming the Sufjan Stevens christmas album.. (definitely a necessity when preparing for the season.)
im going to get back to procrastinating some more…
so some how or another an old friend of mine got hooked up with a google wave account. (if you are out of the loop, and are unfamiliar with this glorious new creation, please read all about it and educate yourself here.)
anyway, a couple days ago she posted a facebook update asking if anyone wanted her to send their email in to google so they might receive an invite.. naturally, i gave her my email so i might also be on the cutting edge of technology. (seriously, this is like the wright brothers leaving the ground for the first time.)
again back on topic- so today was the glorious day that i checked my email and low and behold, a google wave invite from my good friends down at the google. so i set up my account, and got all sorts of excited (“christmas morning” kind of excited), and then i realized i have no one to wave with…sooo… if you happen to read this and also have a wave account, please feel free to send one my way and we can chat for a bit..
well, i’ll get back to being cool, with my cool new cutting edge technologies…
